MYKONOS DESTINATION WEDDING /// CHARLEY & ANDREW

One of my favourite things about weddings is that they’re a great reason to bring your nearest and dearest together in one place. Charley and Andrew united with their friends and family on the Greek island of Mykonos, and I was really excited to be there too.

After filming in France earlier in the season I had my logistics sorted. I knew exactly which fare I wanted to buy for my luggage, I set off to the airport in plenty of time, and I had even googled which bus stop I needed for the shuttle bus from the long-stay car park. I could definitely get used to this! I was also keen to get one last hot weekend in before the UK winter was upon us, and Greece did not disappoint.

With guests flying into Mykonos from the UK and New Zealand, Charley and Andrew threw a pre-wedding party the night before their big day and it was the perfect opportunity to send up my drone and get some sunset shots from over the sea, the apply named “Sunset Bar” lived up to its name and then some. We don’t get anything quite like this in Nottinghamshire. Filming in Mykonos was great in part because the landscape felt new, and was so different to the UK weddings I’ve shot. The buildings were painted white, the ground was a scorched sandy brown, and it felt typically Greek. It was my first time in Greece, so what do I know...

On their wedding day, after a personal ceremony officiated by a close friend, Charley and Andrew had a wonderful golden hour couple shoot. The coastal wind gave us some great veil tosses too! After moving speeches from the wedding party, it was time to dance the night away, helped along by the snazziest saxophone I have ever seen!

You only have to look at how much both the bride and groom are smiling to see how great their wedding day was. Whether you’re getting married at home, or abroad, that’s the only thing that really matters.
