A Carriage Hall Wedding Video, Lauren and Ollie.

My business has taken me to some great places; London, the Cotswolds, Cornwall, the Lake District, France, and recently Greece to name just a few. There’s a temptation in wanting to go to new places and explore further afield. If I needed a little reminder of how good we’ve got it in our own backyard of Nottingham, Lauren and Ollie’s wedding at Carriage Hall provided just that.

Bridal prep took place at The Birchover Residences Bridgford Hall, just down the road from me, and because I’m used to a longer drive, I arrived so early the make-up artist hadn’t even set up her kit. Now, my usual style is to blend into the background and do my thing while everyone else is doing their thing. As you can see from watching my films(Here’s my YouTube!), I like natural and candid shots, and I don’t ever want to get in the way of a fellow supplier doing their job. We’re all on the same team! But if I can sneak in a quick suggestion that doesn’t step on anyone’s toes but will make a difference to the film, then I will.

So, would our Makeup artist mind setting up in front of the lovely big window, making the most of the natural light? She said no problem, and I think you’ll agree, we’ve got some beautiful shots of Lauren having her make-up done. I love natural light; it’s flattering and we won’t have any harsh orange glows from a lightbulb, and we can get great contrast and highlights.

From personalised vows, to emotional speeches, to guests popping some moves on the dancefloor, there were plenty of laughs and even a few tears.

And that natural light wasn’t done yet… As the party was getting going, I started to get a good feeling about the sunset. Being only ten miles from home, I didn’t mind staying a little bit later to see what the sky had in store for us. It more than paid off, as I was able to nip out with Lauren and Ollie just as the sun was setting and we were treated to this blazing orange sky. It was a brilliant end to the day.
